Dhaka, Bangladesh - July 24, 2023 – The Honorable Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) of Japan, Yasutoshi Nishimura, along with the Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh, Mr. Iwama Kiminori and delegates from METI, visited BJIT Limited in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The visit marks a momentous occasion in reinforcing bilateral ties between Japan and Bangladesh in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

 

JM Akbar, CEO, and Chairman, along with Board members and the Management Team, welcomed Minister Nishimura, marking a significant step in fostering collaboration between BJIT Limited and the government. Discussions centered around joint initiatives in technology and industry, emphasizing mutual progress and innovation.

 

The focal point of the visit was an interactive meeting to discuss the potential for ICT expansion between Japan and Bangladesh. In this engaging session, both entities deliberated on opportunities for mutual growth and advancement in the ICT sector.


During the visit, Minister Nishimura took the opportunity to witness the talent and expertise of BJIT Limited's engineers. He visited the different floors of the facility and was delighted to witness a brief demonstration of the company's innovative product, "Pocketalk." Mr. Abul Kalam Milon, the Chief Technology Officer of BJIT Limited, introduced the company's array of pioneering products and solutions. 

 

BJIT’s groundbreaking product "Pocketalk" showcased a level of innovation and ingenuity that left a lasting impact on the Minister. The advanced language translation technology and seamless user experience of "Pocketalk" were truly remarkable, reflecting the company's commitment to excellence. The Minister himself explored the device and was deeply impressed by its capabilities, attesting to BJIT's unwavering commitment to technological excellence.

 

Beyond the showcase of technological achievements, Minister Nishimura also visited BJIT Academy. BJIT Academy provides comprehensive training in soft skills, technical expertise, foreign languages, and global business culture, with a specific emphasis on Japanese language and culture. Of notable mention was the "Youth Skill Development Training Program," a prominent initiative by BJIT that seeks to nurture and inspire young talents within the nation.

 

Honourable Minister Nishimura expressed keen interest in the training programs offered by BJIT Academy. He acknowledged the significance of augmenting engineers' skill sets and global business acumen, which resonates with BJIT's ambitious vision to train 10,000 engineers within the next 10 years for Japanese projects. This visionary initiative by BJIT Limited aspires to cultivate a pool of highly skilled engineers capable of undertaking Japanese projects, thereby ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet Japan's stringent standards.

 

The visit of Honorable Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura to BJIT Limited constitutes a momentous milestone in bilateral relations between Japan and Bangladesh. It further strengthens the collaboration in the ICT sector and underscores the commitment of both nations to foster innovation, technology transfer, and skill development.
